Is a dental discount program worth it?

Depends on your dental needs

  • You usually go in for semi-annual care. If you only need routine cleanings twice a year, definitely opt for a dental discount plan.

  • You usually have more dental work than insurance covers Most traditional dental insurance plans have an annual limit for spend on dental care. If you go above that they will not cover the expense. In this case supplementing your insurance with a discount dental plan may help save more.

  • Health + dental problems. If you have gum disease, are a smoker, have diabetes, or other conditions that effect your teeth and gums a dental plan is a good option.

Can I use both traditional dental insurance and a dental savings plan?

Though you can have both you cannot use both at the same procedure. Usually the dental office will help, by going through the plans and using the one that reduces your out-of-pocket cost once you have reached the annual maximum limit on your dental insurance.
